Natural Selection

We were asked to create an atmosphere to complement a sit down, music experience in an empty unit near Headrow House, which intended to give people a bit of the club experience that they may have been missing due to the closure of clubs from Covid. We used fluorescent neon tubes placed in specific places so that the different colours blended and created a gradient around the space, which was enhanced by the smoke machine. We wanted to embrace the rough, exposed brick and wires of the space and therefore placed the lighting in areas which may otherwise have been ignored. The rawness of the space in conjunction with the lights and the smoke machine definitely gave the feeling of an underground club environment and offered people an alternative space to enjoy their drinks compared to the usual spaces in Headrow House. This event ran for only two nights before lockdown 2 was introduced.
